I wanted to take the time to tell all of my fellow Iraq and Afghanistan veterans about a great website, IAVA.org. Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, founded in 2004 by Executive Director Paul Rieckhoff, is dedicated to providing informative resources and opportunities to veterans and their families. There are many individuals who have departed the service and not really had the opportunity to take part in programs designed for life after the Military. I'm here to tell you that the fun does not stop because there are organizations out there that continue to strive for better options for veterans.
In short, IAVA is a non-profit organization and those who sign up for the free membership have the opportunity to help shape the landscape in their own communities. The networking opportunities are unlimited and the benefits gained are unmatched. In order to receive the free rewards they offer, such as ticket/access to various events, you will need to provide proof that you are a veteran who served in OIF or OEF. There are several methods that allow for you to do this, which will be explained during the sign-up process. All in all, the team here at JarFed would like to thank all of those who are currently serving as well as those who have previously served. Continue to be a leader in your communities just as you have been on the battlefield.
